Saudi Arabia apparently wants to admit killing

GDN - The Saudi Kingdom will shortly release a statement on the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

The Saudis are preparing a statement that the killing in the consulate should have been a mistake (source: CNN).

Presumably, the statement states that the Saudis probably killed the journalists inadvertently during a failed interrogation. Several news channels and journalists each rely on their own sources. CNN cites two sources in its report. One of them emphasized that the Saudi Arabian report was not yet finalized and could still be rewritten. Saudi Arabia will probably tell the world through the interim or official report that the operation has expired without the approval of the Saudi government and those responsible would be held accountable.

The pressure on Saudi Arabia had been so strongly built up and increased worldwide by journalists and media broadcasters, that now an official statement of the Saudis is to be expected shortly. Khashoggi has been missing every trace since Oct. 2, when he has demonstrably entered the Saudi Consulate through video footage. German Daily News, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, CNN all rely on their own sources. The world is now waiting for the official statement from the Saudi government.
